Paperwall media & publishing is one of the best online store for buying poetry and fiction books written by Indian writers & poets.
“We have been part of the publishing industry for nearly three decades.”
In 1992, Marathi poet Hemant Divate started a little magazine, Abhidha, a journal dedicated to new Marathi poetry, which metamorphosed, five years later, into AbhidhaNantar, a quarterly. The magazine refined – and redefined – the way in which Marathi poetry was received by presenting only the best modern poets and their works, and by providing a critical and cultural context through essays and literary criticism. A robust and receptive readership paved the way to AbhidhaNantar becoming a publishing imprint in the year 2000.
In 2003, Poetrywala was born. Initially dedicated to Marathi poetry, the ambit was extended to poetry in English and in translation. Today, with a list of over 100 titles, this indie press has done much to galvanise the poetry publishing scene in India, across languages, constituencies and markets.
When Hemant and his wife Smruti co-founded Paperwall Media & Publishing Pvt Ltd., Poetrywala continued to sit comfortably within the purview of Paperwall’s mission statement: To be a champion of intelligent writing and excellent quality; to be a hospitable home for literary aspirants and established authors alike; to be a force against the current of instant-success and easy-reads.
“With diversifications into other genres – prose, literary fiction, critical essays, and writing for young adults – our future looks busy, and bright!”
