Nadia Mifsud

Nadia Mifsud is a Maltese poet, author, translator, and teacher based in France. To date, she has published three books of poetry, one chapbook, one novel and a collection of short stories. She has been awarded various prizes in Malta, including the National Book Prize for Poetry twice (2016; 2022). In 2022, she became Malta’s third Poet Laureate. Nadia has read at various festivals around the globe, and her work has been translated into several languages, including English, French, Italian, Spanish, Croatian, Slovenian, Malayalam, Dutch, Galician, Catalan, Romanian and Serbian. Variations on Silence is a translation by Miriam Calleja of her collection Varjazzjonijiet tas-Skiet (EDE, 2021), winner of the 2022 National Book Prize for Poetry in Malta.

Miriam Calleja  is an award-winning poet, writer, workshop leader, artist, and translator. Her work has appeared in platform review, Odyssey, Taos Journal, plume, Modern Poetry in Translation, Humana Obscura, and elsewhere. She has published 2 full collections and several chapbooks and collaborations. Her latest chapbook is titled Come Closer, I Don’t Mind the Silence (BottleCap Press, 2023). She has been honoured by the Stephen Spender Trust for her work in translation. Miriam has also won first place in the 2025 table//FEAST competition for her translation comma, a piece by Nadia Mifsud from the manuscript Variations on Silence (Poetrywala, 2025).
